Ringwood Manor Historic House Tours - FREE!

Ringwood Manor is a national historic Landmark that was donated to the State of Nj in 1938 by the Cooper & Hewitt families. The Manor is open for tours Wednesday through Sunday all year. The fully-furnished building has 51 rooms, 26 of which are seen on the guided tour. Tours run between 10am and 3pm and generally last 1 hour. There is no fee for tours and reservations for the general public are not required. Crowds of more than 10 people should schedule group tours with the historic staff. Ringwood Manor Historic Grounds & Landscape Tours

Ever wonder what all that �stuff� is placed around the grounds at Ringwood Manor? What about all those other buildings on the property? What were they Used for? If you have ever been curious about the estate at Ringwood Manor, this special tour is for you!

These 2 � walking tours will take the participants around the main property at Ringwood Manor, discussing the historic objects, the planned gardens and landscape features, the out-buildings, and even the cemetery. It is advised that participants wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes, dress appropriately for the weather, and bring bug spray & sun block if necessary. Steady Rain cancels. Wednesday, April 28th 8:00pm This event will be held at the Long Pond Ironworks Visitor Center	Showing of the Documentary Movie: Mechanic to Millionaire: The Peter Cooper Story Portrait of Peter Cooper	Produced by the Gardner Group. The Documentary tells the story of Peter Cooper, one of the greatest leaders of the first generation of America�s industrial revolution -- a self-made man who also became a great philanthropist, a social visionary and a popular hero. He helped shape America in its transition from an agrarian to an industrial, then a consumer-oriented society, from an uncertain nation to one that was rich, strong, and confident. His numerous innovations and public activities both reflected the changing American social order and transformed it in fundamental ways. When his business success brought him wealth and power, he used his position to foster economic and social justice. The movie will be shown as part of the North Jersey Highlands Historical Society�s regular monthly meeting at the Long Pond Ironworks Visitor Center located on Greenwood Lake Turnpike in West Milford, NJ.

Sunday, May 2nd 12:00 Noon Free!	19th Century Baseball Game at Ringwood Manor - FREE	Flemington Neshanocks vs. Elizabeth Resolutes. Come see America�s favorite pastime played according to 19th century rules and regulations. Players use authentic equipment and uniforms. During the 7th inning stretch hear a retelling of �Casey at the Bat.� Bring a chair, your picnic lunch, and cheer on your favorite player! Game will take place in Parking Lot B at Ringwood Manor, where there are plenty of picnic tables and spaces for picnic lunches. A playground for children is also located in that area. Sunday, July 4th 1pm-4pm $5 per car parking fee No charge for event!	Ringwood Manor�s 11th Annual Declaration of Independence Reading & Celebration �We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal�	A Great Family Event! Join us as we celebrate our nation�s 234th birthday by reenacting a traditional reading of the declaration of independence. Patriot and Loyalist Reenactors help to create a lively 18th century town atmosphere on the front lawn of Ringwood Manor. Hear the words the helped form America and watch the volley of musket balls fired in celebration of the new nation! Activities for young and old include: Colonial Games and toys, Colonial Crafters, military drilling with members of the Militia, Sign your own �john Hancock� on the Declaration of Independence with a quill pen, make your own rope, and Colonial Dancing. Ringwood Manor�s own blacksmith�s will have the forge open and operating. Event begins at 1:00pm; Declaration of Independence is Read at 2:30pm. Historic House tours of Ringwood Manor will be available in the morning preceding the event. Free watermelon for visitors! No cost for event, $5 per car parking fee to enter park. Sponsored by the North Jersey Highlands Historical Society and Ringwood State Park. Participants in this year�s event include: NJ Militia � Heard�s Brigade, Friends of Long Pond Ironworks, the 5th NJ Regiment, the 35th Regimental Society, the North River Colonial English Dancers, and various individual reenactors and volunteers.

Saturday, August 14th & Sunday, August 15th 11am- 4:30pm $5 per car parking fee to enter park No Charge for event!	4th Annual Royal Sussex Regimental Society Victorian Field Day & Tactical Demonstrations	Ringwood Manor will host British Victorian living history groups, the 35th Royal Sussex Regiment, 57th Middlesex Regiment, and the 5th Northumberland Fusiliers Regiment. The British Victorian living history day will feature military skirmishes, encampments, & tactical demonstrations, as well as demonstrations of civilian life during the time. The Royal Sussex group represents the Regiment of British soldiers that fought during the 1881-1882 Egyptian Campaign and the 1884-1885 Nile Expedition. They help to interpret the British Empire of the late 19th century under the rule of Queen Victoria. Exact times skirmishes will take place each day will be announced closer to the event date. Check back for program listing and times. Ringwood Manor will be open to the public for tours. No Charge for Event; $5 per car parking fee to enter park. Dates, Times, and Ticket Pricing Information to be Announced soon. Please check back	Enchanted Evening Tours We will begin taking reservations on August 25th, 2010.	One of our most Popular Events! A special evening opportunity to meet the inhabitants of Ringwood Manor. Visit the Manor and its grounds with master storytellers Bert Prol and Annie Callan Darling to hear the legends and meet the personalities of Ringwood�s past. Advance Payment & Registration are Required. Groups are limited to 20 people. Dates, Times, and Ticket Prices will be Announced early in the Summer of 2010. Please Check Back for More Information. Please note: Reservations will NOT be accepted before August 25th. Please do not contact us before that date. Saturday, December 4th Sunday, December 5th Saturday, December 11th Sunday, December 12th 11am-5pm All four days	Ringwood Manor�s 34th �Annual Victorian Christmas Celebration 19th century Drawing of Santa Claus by cartoonist Thomas Nast	Join the Women�s Club of West Milford, the Ringwood Manor Citizen Advisory Committee, and Ringwood State Park Staff in celebrating the 35th Annual Victorian Christmas at Ringwood Manor. Tour the Manor, decorated in authentic 19th century holiday decor, with guides in period costumes leading you from room to room. Craft vendors will have hand-made items available- get that perfect last-minute gift! Victorian Coffee Shop will be open and serving refreshments. Fee to enter Manor House.
