Ringwood Manor is a national historic Landmark. Donated to the State of NJ in 1938 by the Cooper & Hewitt families, the Manor is open for tours Wednesday through Sunday all year. The fully-furnished building has 51 rooms, 26 of which are shown on the guided tour. Tours run between 10am and 3pm and generally last 1 hour. There is no fee for tours and reservations for the general public are not required. Groups of more than 10 people should schedule a group tour in advance with the historic staff. Back by popular demand! Ever wonder what all that �stuff� is placed around the grounds at Ringwood Manor? What about all those other buildings on the property? What were they used for? If you have ever been curious about the estate at Ringwood Manor, this program is for you! These 2 hour walking tours will take the participants around the main property at Ringwood Manor, discussing the historic objects, the planned gardens and landscape features, the out-buildings, and even the cemetery. Historic photos will be shown to the group to give participants an idea of what the site looked like at various times. It is advised that participants wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes, dress appropriately for the weather, and bring bug spray & sun block if necessary. Steady Rain cancels. The blacksmiths will have the building open for visitors. They will be demonstrating traditional 19th century blacksmithing techniques and creating handcrafted objects. |

Ringwood Manor Association of the Arts (RMAA) is a non-profit organization which is dedicated to providing visual arts opportunities for interested persons of all ages. All officers and directors are volunteers who donate their time and energy to further the Association, as do many of our members. With its home in Ringwood State Park�s historic Carriage House, RMAA�s Barn Gallery offers a showcase for artists of all media. Brigade Napoleon Encampment and Tactical![]() |
The historic grounds around Ringwood Manor will be transformed into Mainland Europe, where the forces of Napoleon Bonaparte will confront the Coalition of Nations arrayed against him at the first New Jersey event sponsored by the Brigade Napoleon. Russian Grenadiers, Imperial Guards, Scottish Highlanders, and French Cuirassiers will drill and explain the intricacies of their uniforms and equipment between Tactical Demonstrations pitting Foot Soldiers and Horsemen in the battle for Europe. The Fields around Ringwood Manor will be used as a cantonment for the warring nations and demonstration areas for both Infantry and Cavalry tactics of the period. Brigade Napoleon is a North American Napoleonic era re-enactment organization, with member units coming from across Canada and the US Brigade Napoleon is open to Regiments of all nations, or to individuals of those units, who wish to portray those who changed the face of Europe. Visitors can engage and discover 400 years of New Jersey history in one fun day. living history demonstrations depicting periods from the frontier to World War II, military encampments, music, quilt appraisal, Antique car displays, and children's activities �are held throughout the day. Professional Development credit hours for NJ teachers and achievements for cub, boy, and girl scouts are available as well. Food vendors will be available. Flemington Neshanocks vs. Elizabeth Resolutes. Come see America�s favorite pastime played according to 19th century rules and regulations. Players use authentic equipment and uniforms. During the 7th inning stretch hear a retelling of �Casey at the Bat.� Bring a chair, your picnic lunch, and cheer on your favorite Team! Game will take place in Parking Lot B at Ringwood Manor, where there are plenty of picnic tables and spaces for picnic lunches. A playground for children is also located in that area. Hot dogs, drinks, and chips will be available to purchase at the field courtesy of the North Jersey Highlands Historical Society. Ringwood Manor�s 12th Annual Declaration of Independence Reading & Celebration![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
A Great Family Event! Join us as we celebrate our nation�s 235th birthday by reenacting a traditional reading of the declaration of independence. Patriot and Loyalist reenactors help to create a lively 18th century town atmosphere on the front lawn of Ringwood Manor. Hear the words that helped form America and watch the volley of musket balls fired in celebration of the new nation! Activities for young and old include: Colonial Games and toys, Colonial Crafters, 18th century baked goods, military drilling with members of the Militia, Sign your own �John Hancock� on the Declaration of Independence with a quill pen, make your own rope, Robert Erskine exhibit, and much more. Ringwood Manor�s own blacksmith will have the forge open and operating. Event begins at 1:00pm; Declaration of Independence is Read at 2:30pm. Historic House tours of Ringwood Manor will be available preceding the event only. Tour schedule will be posted closer to the event. Free watermelon for visitors! No cost for event, $5 per car parking fee to enter park. Sponsored by the North Jersey Highlands Historical Society and Ringwood State Park. Participants in The event include: the 35th Royal Sussex Regimental Society, Heard�s Brigade, In Good Company Dancers, the Friends of Long Pond Ironworks, and various individual reenactors and volunteers. |

5th Annual Royal Sussex Regimental Society Victorian Field Day & Tactical![]() ![]() Images from previous Grand Victorian Tactical days. |
Ringwood Manor will host British Victorian living history groups, the 35th Royal Sussex Regiment, 57th Middlesex Regiment, and the 5th Northumberland Fusiliers Regiment. The British Victorian living history day will feature military skirmishes, encampments, & tactical demonstrations, as well as demonstrations of civilian life during the time. The Royal Sussex group represents the Regiment of British soldiers that fought during the 1881-1882 Egyptian Campaign and the 1884-1885 Nile Expedition. They help to interpret the British Empire of the late 19th century under the rule of Queen Victoria. Daily schedule and times of the Skirmishes will be posted shortly. *Please note that the reproduction firearms are quite loud and may be startling or frightening to young children. Ringwood Manor will be open to the public for tours. No Charge for Event; $5 per car parking fee to enter park.
